Is the lobbying important and how it is regulated? How we can use possibilities and results of lobbying? How to prevent that lobbing becomes a fraud?
Gests in context are: In Belgrade – Director of Hristov consulting, consultant for strategic communication and Member of the council of the “Lobby Association of Serbia” Aleksandra Hristov, in Zagreb – owner and director of Vlahovic group and chief secretary of Lobby Association of Croatia, Certified lobbyist in European Parliament, Natko Vlahovic and in Sarajevo- political analyst Adnan Huskic.

14 years of silence on the murder of Slavko Curuvija

Posted by Aleksandra Hristov on April 11th, 2013 under Events | No Comments »

Slavko Curuvija was assassinated on April 11 1999 on Ester in the hallway of the building he lived in. I was one of the journalists who worked with him form the founding of Daily Telegraph. He was killed 5 days after he was accused in Politika newspaper for “treason”. His friend and family believe his murder was political because of his opposition to Slobodan Milosevic regime.

His widow Branka Prpa gave a statement to the press that giving status of witness protection to Rade Markovic, chief of secret police at that time, destroys the principle of justice.

My company Hristov Consulting together with Belgrade Chamber of Commerce organized the training “Change management in times of crisis” certified by Serbian Ministry of Finance and Economy and Serbian National Agency for Regional Development.

Training was attended by managers of public enterprises and private companies, directors of institutions and their assistants. With intensive interaction the participants were able to share their experiences and get answers to questions like: Is change the only constant? What is changing and how? Can you plan and control the change? What is the meaning of change for your organization? How to motivate employees and gain their support? What is the benefit by those who oppose change? How would you organize team to implement change? Can you find right people? How would you explain the change to your stakeholders? What is the best way to make them allies?

I have a great time performing the training, enabling participants to get the most out of this very important subject.

10th anniversary of Zoran Djindjic assassination

Posted by Aleksandra Hristov on March 12th, 2013 under Events | No Comments »

Today is the 10th anniversary of first democratic Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic assassination. I was one of the tens of thousands people who came on “Walk for Zoran” to demonstrate respect for his work and accomplishments. When on Terazije Square I was very said, almost crying and in the same time very proud. Around me there were places, Trg Republike square where I was demonstrated in 1991 against Milosevic and his regime, before the war. Next was Kolarceva Street where students and citizens demonstrated in 1996/97 and I was journalists in independent media at that time, and we were on Terazije square where I remember demonstrations against Milosevic and contra demonstrations by his supporters.
We spent our youth protesting and here are the results.
-    The first Prime Minister was assassinated.
-    We are still trying to get date for European integrations
-    Country is in very bad economic, social and any moral situation
On the other hand I am proud that I was involved with some people who did everything (even gave their lives) for these ideas; against the war, against the regime, that took us back in the past, against other nations. So young people could have a chance to take get education and have future.
I had a great honor to work with Zoran Djindjic in the first democratic government and to know him personally and I am very proud of that.

The survey conducted by the Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) within the project “Construction of the integrity of the profession level in Serbia” during 2011 noted a low level of integrity of professional associations. In addition to these findings, the need to improve the organizational and functional capacity of professional associations became one of the key issues in the development of the profession and civil society.

The main areas of training were the fight against corruption professional associations and the fight against corruption, system integrity in the profession, protection of whistleblowers (persons who report corruption), and the lecturers were Nebojsa Tasic Head of IT training programs of the Anti-Corruption www.acsr.rs, Zoran Gavrilovic, director of the “Society Against Corruption,” and Dimitrijevic Pavle, executive director of BIRODI.

As a representative of the Lobby Association of Serbia (Council member), I was present at the training, which will certainly affect how the Association recognize their role in the fight against corruption, and the potential for mutual cooperation that contributes to the creation in a coalition of civil society to achieve the goals of common issues.

Constantza Port gaining in significance in transport of goods from Serbia

Posted by Aleksandra Hristov on September 20th, 2012 under Events | No Comments »

Constantza Port Day was held 20 September 2012 in Novi Sad, this being its sixth edition in Serbia. It is the second year that this event is organized in Novi Sad. Last year’s success and the interest shown by the partners from this region determined the return of the event to the port on the Danube.

Over 200 representatives of the companies operating in transports and logistics in Serbia, local authorities, delegates from ports on the Danube came to Master Congress Center to meet the representatives of Constantza Port, being interested in business opportunities, in extending and consolidating the commercial relations. Already a tradition in Serbia, the event also captured the attention of businessmen from neighboring countries, such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland.

This event  was addressed by:
Nemanja Vukcevic, representative of the Novi Sad Local Council; Dragos Ispas,  The representative of the Romanian Embassy in Belgrade;  George Visan, commercial director of NC Maritime Ports Administration SA Constantza;  Daniel Georgescu, general manager of the Administration of Navigable Canals, Ivana Umeljic, deputy director of Uniqa insurance company  and  Manfried Seitz, General Secretary, Pro Danube International, Austria.

Ivana Umeljic, deputy director of Uniqa insurance company, stated: “It is a great pleasure for us that the company Uniqa backed and participated in the event Constantza Port Day in Novi Sad. Among the permanent activities of the Uniqa Transport Insurance Center are communication and cooperation with foreign trade companies, transport organizers, shipping agents and other participants in the traffic of goods in the reaffirmation of needs and importance of the insurance of goods in transport. Constantza Port Day was an excellent opportunity for us to introduce participants in the traffic of goods to the insurance of goods in transport as the only way to protect the interests of the owner of goods.”

The business relationships that were initiated and developed during the six editions of Constantza Port Day in Serbia show that this event is a very important support for building strong partnerships with concrete effects on the turnover of the Romanian and Serbian companies, many contracts being the result of the meetings facilitated by this event.

- I am very satisfied with the fact that this year’s event attracted even bigger number of companies than last year because that confirms a growing interest of businessmen in cooperation with Constantza Port. As in previous years, we now expect some concrete deals to be concluded between our port operators and partners from Serbia and the region – said Vladan Misic, representative of Constantza Port in Serbia.
